Brexit

The UK is due to leave the EU on 31st of October 2019. BOIPA’s priority is to ensure that its services to customers are affected as little as possible. We have been working to prepare for a no deal Brexit and are well placed to support you.

Set out below are some general FAQs. If you need further information, please do not hesitate to contact us by submitting a query through the online form below. We also encourage our customers to review information published by the Irish government, EU and industry bodies respectively, so that you can fully consider the potential impacts of Brexit on your business and prepare accordingly.

Does a hard Brexit have any implications for my day-to-day card processing?

No. If the UK crashes out of Europe on October 31st you will retain service on your card terminal or gateway as normal from November 1st.

How do I know if I need to do anything?

If we need to make any changes to your service or require an action from you, we will contact you.

Will I experience a disruption in my services from BOIPA?

As our regulated entities are located outside of the UK it is not expected that Brexit will have a material impact on our financial models or regulatory structures other than such future measures as may be required for our UK domestic business. For BOI Payment Acceptance, we expect little to no direct impact.

Will there be anything else I need to consider that may affect my payment processing?

We encourage you to review what Brexit may mean for your business, regardless of where you are located. BOIPA will aim to support you with any changes you may require to your payment processing needs.

Where can I get more information?

All information on Brexit will be posted on this section of our web site but please get in touch via your usual support channels if your questions have not been answered by the information on this web page, or if you would like to discuss any other changes to your company’s payment processing needs with us.
