Android Pay relaunches as Google Pay

Apple Pay may well be leading the way when it comes to smartphone payment technology but it better watch its back. Just this week Google announced that it would be relaunching its payment solution Android Pay as Google Pay.

This is the tech giant’s third attempt to break into the payments market, and comes after the previously mentioned Android Pay and prior to that it’s Google Wallet. The upgraded app looks similar to its predecessor although it has be stylised in line with Google branding.

The main difference between the two versions is the addition of a new personalised ‘suggestion’ functionality. The app will now suggest local stores that users should visit that accept Google Pay and that are based on a user’s shopping history.
